"The Third Body" at the Freie Universität Berlin

IN TRANSIT goes FU - as the university opens its doors to an event running under THE THIRD BODY and accompanying the IN TRANSIT 04 Festival. In a joint seminar for advanced students at the Free University's Institute for Theatre Studies, Gabriele Brandstetter, Professor of Dance Studies, and House of World Cultures' Johannes Odenthal provide a theoretical introduction into the main thematic issues of post-colonialism and globalisation in the performing arts as well as body work and body techniques in dance. Videos of previous IN TRANSIT festivals will be used as the basic material for discussion. In a second phase, the students then have a chance to meet the IN TRANSIT 04 artists and performers personally in the House of World Cultures, not only allowing the students an insight into the practical aspects of theatre, but also increasing public awareness of these performers during their stay here.
