Junko Wada, Berlin
Process Vol.2 - Reflection
< Punkt und Linie - Berlin >
"To me the movement of writing resembles that of a dance performance. The stroke of the brush and the act of taking in breath are closely connected. In this way the act of writing becomes a stylised dance." Junko Wada
In Junko Wada's first performance she appears with four other dancers in an improvisation whose choreography is based on the elements of the point and the line. To the music of Hans Peter Kuhn they scatter throughout the space and form a horizontal line - lively, loud, vigorous.
The second performance provides the opposite pole: while Junko Wada writes her diary, four sound artists scattered throughout the space conduct performances/installations.
In the week between the two performances Junko Wada will set up her workspace in the House of World Cultures, continuing with her diary. The writing and the performances will be recorded with photos and videos. These interrelated documentations of a process will later be shown as a video installation along with an exhibit of the resulting photos and diary entries.
After studying at the Art Academy in Tokyo, Junko Wada initially worked on large-format oil paintings, while at the same time exploring the movements of her body. In collaboration with sound artists, she developed her own form of movement performance. She lives in Berlin.
